THE FIRST CHRISTMAS MIRACLE ( LUKE 1: 1-38)

God Use Ordinary People To Do Extra-Ordinary Things

He sent the angel Gabriel (that’s a miracle in itself, by the way). God could have chosen a priest’s or a king’s daughter to be the mother of the Messiah. But He chose Mary, an ordinary Jewish peasant girl living in the backwater village of Nazareth in Galilee .

When the angel Gabriel told Mary that God had looked on her with great favor, she was troubled by the announcement, and she wondered, “Who am I that an angel should come to me with a direct message from God. But that part of Gabriel’s announcement could not hold a candle to the main message that Mary would give birth to the Messiah, the Son of the Most High God! God would use Mary, an ordinary Jewish maiden, to do the most extraordinary thing.

God Made The Impossible Possible

Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”(Luke 1:34)

However, Gabriel reminded her (and us) that “nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

The miracle of salvation

For me this is the greatest of miracle , which is the miracle of salvation. God became incarnate to save sinners.

Why did the Son of God do this miraculous thing? (John 3:16) says “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.”

AS WE ENJOY THIS CHRISTMAS I PRAY YOU EXPERIENCE THE BLESSINGS OF SALVATION

FEEDING ON THE WORD OF GOD

What Is the Word Of God? The Bible is considered the Word of GOD, meaning it can be considered a direct line of communication from the Word , which is divinely inspired ,

JESUS himself is the word of God

John 1:14-18 ‘The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth'(which is Jesus)

Mathew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Just like is mother feeds her child with food.

A teacher feeds with information

Devil feeds with false doctrine.

Jesus feeds our soul with spiritual truth using the bible , which is the word of God.

Those who do not feed on the word of God are liken to be spiritually dead.

Jn 6: 53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you’.

HOW DO I FEED ON GOD WORD

  1. Hear It (Roman 10:17) ‘Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ‘.
  2. Read It ( Mathew 19:4) He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female‘.
  3. Study It ( Ezra 7:10) For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel’.
  4. memorize It ( Ps 119:11)I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you’.
  5. Meditate on it ( Ps 1:2) but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night’.

BENEFITS OF FEEDING ON GODS WORD

1 Peter 2:2 “Like new born babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation”

As you feed on the Word of God, it gets in you and when it does, healing, strength, wisdom and life comes out of the Word and goes into you. Peter said we should desire God’s Word so we can grow.

Word of God gives guidance

It brings healing

It gives deliverance.

It brings salvation

It bring peace

It gives us power and dominion.

MAY GOD BLESS HIS WORDS IN OUR HEARTS

BATTLES OF THE NIGHT

The battles we face in life are real, sometimes it robs us of our sleep and joy. There are nights I go to sleep and don’t wake up till morning or if I do wake up I think of nothing more than going back to sleep. There are mornings I wake up, looking forward to the day, eager to get going, but there are also mornings I find myself fighting some epic spiritual battle just to get my joy back and to praise God.

Night can be a time of accusation and troubled conscience, during the day we tend to do things contrary to the will of GOD without thinking about it, the enemy.

Ps 91 vs 5 “the terrors of the night”. referred the night as a period of terror. The fact remains if you fear something during the day, there’s a tendency for having more fears at night.

Mathew 13 vs 25 says, But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. The enemy sows seeds of fear, doubt, accusation etc in our heart while we sleep,

In Psalm 143 It was during the night that David said, For the enemy has persecuted my soul. He has crushed my life to the ground. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me” “In the morning, let me hear your loving-kindness, for I trust in you.”

Psalm 30:5  says, For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favour lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Rejoicing comes in the morning”. Even that, implies that there was a struggle during the night, Before that joy came in the morning. Sometimes that can be our experience.

And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Mark 10:47-48
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me

BATTLING WITH THE SPIRIT OF REJECTION.

JUDGES 11:12 (Then Jephthah sent messengers to the Ammonite king with the question: “What do you have against me that you have attacked my country

Looking at the story of Jephthah from (JUDGES 12 verse 1 -3 , 1Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. 2And Gilead’s wife bare him sons; and his wife’s sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a strange woman. 3Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

He was rejected because he was the son of a harlot. And verse 3:You can see that rejection made him mingle with the wrong crowd , which is not God plan for you ( JUDGES 11:3)

Ways To Tackle Rejection

  1. Place your identity in God: Embraces your in God( Ephesian 1 :5-6)

  1. Forgiveness: If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father in heaven will not forgive your sins.”( Math 6: 14-15). You have to forgive people that hurt you in the past, you cant let the past hinder your prayers due to unforgiveness. Remember forgiveness is not only a command but also a condition for receiving  Gods forgiveness. Holding onto unforgiveness prevents us from experiencing the fullness of Gods mercy , grace and hinders our prayer.

  1. Focus on your strength: Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms (1 Peter 4 vs 10).

  1. Trust God: Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the LORD! 14 Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the LORD( Ps 27:14).

MAY GOD BLESS HIS WORDS IN OUR HEART IN JESUS NAME AMEN

GOD LOVE YOU PERSONALLY

WHAT IS LOVE?

Love often involves care, respect, and a desire for connection, and it can inspire joy, comfort, and peace.

The love of God is unconditional, infinite, and all-encompassing. It signifies a deep, unwavering affection and care for humanity, regardless of individual actions or circumstances.

God’s love is forgiving, merciful, and seeks the well-being of all creation. It can provide comfort, hope, and a sense of purpose, encouraging people to love others in return.

His love cannot be measured, a love filled with great care and concern.

During creation he created the angels, animals, plants, and every other things, but in the book of Genesis 1:26 the bible says he created us in his own image and likeness. Ultimately, God made us in His image so that we might glorify Him and enjoy eternal, intimate, loving relationship with Him.

Facts about Gods love

God love is immeasurable ( Psalm 103:11-14)

Gods love is unconditional ( 1John 4:10)

Gods love surpasses knowledge ( Ephesians 3:17)

Gods love is enduring ( Romans 5:8)

Gods love gives us courage ( 1 John 4:18)

God love keeps us safe (Roman 8:35)

Gods love is faithful ( 2 Thessalonians 3:3,   Lamentations 3:22–23)

Gods love is perfect ( 1 Corinthian 13:4-7)

Gods love is personal ( Luke 15: 4-7)

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

I want you to always remember that the God who created the universe,” LOVES YOU PERSONALLY”

GOD BLESS YOU
